Decatur, Alabama Maternity Photos | The Smith Family

Expectant families are usually pretty quick to consider scheduling newborn photos. Maternity photos, however, sometimes fall to the wayside and get skipped. I hope these Decatur, Alabama maternity photos will change your mind!

It’s always so sweet to capture a family as they’re transitioning from one child to two. For a little while, it’s just been your one baby. I commonly hear about the fear of not being able to love a second baby as much as the first. And believe me, I had the same anxieties! I thought for sure my second little boy would be slighted because there was no way my heart could open up in the same way. Let me assure you, though. None of that is true. Your love will only grow. It’s kind of amazing, actually!

Capturing the time before you add that new baby is so special, though. While growing your family is exciting and wonderful, it’s nostalgic and beautiful to look back and remember how things were before you had another. You’ll never want to actually go back, and you’ll likely forget what it was like. But looking back at your maternity photos with your child, or children, before a new baby comes can trigger those memories.

Documenting such a season for the Smith family was truly an honor. We scheduled their Decatur, Alabama maternity photos in late spring, which was the perfect time for all the blooms! Delano Park has the most beautiful rose garden, full of hydrangeas, roses, topiaries, and dreamy, glowy light! I loved watching the bond between little Luca and his mom, Ashley. He is so excited to become a big brother soon, and I can already tell he’s going to be a good one.

If you’d like to schedule a maternity session with me, let me know! I’d absolutely love to photograph your family.
