When to Book Maternity Photos in Huntsville

I often get asked when I recommend scheduling maternity photos. Typically, I suggest reaching out early in your second trimester to get a session on the calendar. Planning your session for about 30-33 weeks will allow us to photograph your adorable baby bump while you’re still feeling pretty good. I’ve had four kids myself, so I understand that those last few weeks can have you feeling exhausted and uncomfortable. Scheduling your maternity photos before that final stretch is usually a good plan!

Exceptions to the Rule

Of course with most things in life, there are exceptions to the rule. If you’re wondering when to book maternity photos in Huntsville and you’re expecting multiples or have some extenuating circumstances, please let me know that when you inquire so that we can adjust! We would likely plan your maternity session earlier on in your pregnancy to account for a potentially earlier delivery date or to keep you more comfortable as you grow those precious babies!

Seasonal Considerations

Because babies are born all year long, your due date could slightly affect when to book maternity photos. We can get very hot summers and quite cold winters here, and I want to make sure that you and your loved ones actually enjoy our time together. There are studio options in town that we can discuss if you’d like to move your session indoors. We could also consider an in-home maternity session. If you’re set on an outdoor session, know that I have photographed families in all temperatures, and we always find a way to make it work. I’ve brought fans, chosen locations with buildings nearby if kids need to warm up, and learned to photograph quite quickly when needed to capture the perfect photos for families.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if my baby comes early and I miss my maternity session? I completely understand this concern. While it isn’t super common for babies to come before 30-33 weeks, it can happen. If we miss your maternity session because of an early arrival, I promise we will make it up with another session type when you’re ready. Newborn, milestone, and family sessions are all options.

Do you offer packages? Yes! If you’d like to book a maternity and a newborn or fresh 48 session, I offer a discounted package. I’ll send information over when you inquire!

I’m further along than 30-33 weeks. Is it too late? It’s only too late for a maternity session if baby is already in your arms. If you decided further in your pregnancy that you want maternity photos, still reach out! I can usually find time on my calendar and would love to help you out.

Do I really need maternity photos? There’s no rule saying you have to get maternity photos. But I can tell you from experience that they are treasures. I skipped out with my first baby because I didn’t think they were that important. But I desperately wish I had photos with my husband to mark the coming of our first child. I can’t go back and get them, but I did get maternity photos with the rest of my children. So, need? Maybe not. But you won’t regret having them. You may regret skipping out.

Are you ready to book your maternity session in Huntsville? Perfect! Reach out today so we can start planning!
