Weathington Park Maternity Session

Tucked away about an hour from Huntsville, Alabama lies the Weathington Park overlook. It’s an absolute gem with a breathtaking view of the river. During golden hour when the sun is setting, it’s hard to beat the beauty here, and it’s a favorite location of mine and my clients.

I met the Harbough family at Weathington Park as they were preparing to welcome their second baby girl. Big sis Liddy was over the moon to be getting a baby sister!

Throughout their session, mom Caroline and dad Daniel laughed, played, and snuggled their sweet little girl. I loved how they followed Liddy’s lead and leaned into the joy of the season of life they were in.

With young kids, you never know what you’re going to get at a family photo session. They could surprise you with sudden shyness or let their outgoing personalities shine. Either way, I always recommend allowing kids to feel what they’re feeling and be themselves while we’re taking photos. It’s much smoother than trying to force smiles or behaviors, and the results are always priceless.

At this Weathington Park maternity session, Liddy’s smile never left! She and I became fast friends, and I left with a toddler-sized bouquet of flowers she picked just for me.

As a mother, I’m always inspired by other parents while I’m photographing. Working with Caroline and Daniel was a breath of fresh air. Their love and excitement were contagious and made for the most beautiful portraits.
