Maternity sessions bring a little flutter to my heart. Knowing that there is a sweet baby so anticipated and loved growing just makes me smile. Parents are excited, big siblings are giddy, and there is just so much love. This Weathington Park maternity session was the perfect example of all of these feelings. The Harbough family was expecting their second baby girl, and we had a beautiful evening documenting these precious moments.
Weathington Park is a gorgeous little park in Section, Alabama. It overlooks the Tennessee River, with hills dotting the scene. There are trees, pathways, and beautiful rocks that all add to the beautiful backdrop. The sun setting provides the most amazing, glowy light, and as a photographer who shoots with and emulates film in my work, that perfect light is always my favorite!
Arriving at Weathington Park to meet the Harbough family was such a treat. Big sister was so excited, and we hit it off right away. I always like to connect with the kids first, because I know that meeting a photographer for the first time can make them a little nervous. I enjoy asking them about their favorite things, showing them my cameras, and telling them about my little boys. Thankfully chatting with big sis set the mood for a wonderful time!
We started off with photos of the entire family and made sure to get other groupings and photos of just mom, too. Maternity sessions involving the whole family need to tell the whole family’s story, and that includes connections between everyone. But I also like to highlight mom and her connection with the newest bundle. I take plenty of time to capture all the moments I know you’ll want to remember.
The lighting was particularly lovely at Weathington Park at this session, and I just loved all of the images! From the family heirloom blanket to the tender moments with big sis and her parents, everything was oh so lovely.
Here are some of my very favorites with the Harbough family!
